I think tradition is where it's at. Light blue hull, white deck. Dark colors in general aren't really an option anyway because on a sunny day they'll fry your flesh.

Yes! You love to sail and renting boats is expensive. If you keep it in good condition, you'll have a small working sailboat for a while. Plus, it'll let you sail more because it won't be such an expensive every time out.
