Don't try any of them - better to be vaguely curious about them but never have tried them than to risk the possibility of being constantly tempted by something (3 years ago)

Put the bed together now, with the shiny new slats (now with actually ergonomic features). Accept that it may end up being a while before I actually paint the bed. over
Go ahead and paint the bed now, while it's already disassembled, because otherwise I'll never get around to it.
It's not actually oak, it's particleboard with an oak foil finish. It's not veneered or varnished, but you do have to use a special primer or the paint will just sort of slide off (I've done this before).
Anyway, riv overruled me because she really really wanted to have the bed together (and we may end up moving this summer anyway, so I could paint it then).
I picked
Get a three-quarter-sleeve. It's the summer and you'd just roll up the sleeves on a long-sleeve shirt anyway.
over
Get a long-sleeve shirt. It's less girly and you can always roll the sleeves up if you think you look too formal. (3 years ago)
I actually ended up ordering both (so that I can agonize over it in front of a mirror, I guess), but I'm leaning towards wearing the three-quarter-sleeve.

Something else rather than
get a toaster or
get a toaster oven
I'm getting a toaster now, because I really like the way it pops up, and if in the fall we find ourselves wanting to make lots of grilled cheese, bagel pizzas (oh man, I had almost completely forgotten about those, and remembered them while staring at a toaster oven at the store), and so forth, we'll get a toaster oven as well.
I picked
Go with Teacozy, like we'd been planning, even though we don't actually have any teacozies.
over
Go with Heliotrope, because heliotropes are pretty and very purple (and riv had them painted over her dorm room door). (3 years ago)
What lakmiseiru said. Also, apparently riv associates heliotropes pretty strongly with her old dorm room.
I picked
Buy the top that doesn't have any okay colors (besides black) but does have a shelf bra. over
Buy the top that comes in the cut and color I want but that has a soft-cup bra.
Although I'm going to call the company that makes them to see whether the soft cups are removable, in which case I'll get the soft cup top.
I picked
No, what on earth are you thinking?
over
Yes, it's totally cute. (3 years ago)
Cute as the illustration is, it's probably way too complicated for a shirt. Also, the color doesn't really fit into my existing wardrobe.
I picked
Suck it up and buy the strappy white sandals the dress is calling out for - if you try some on tomorrow in Northampton, you might even find some that are comfortable, and you'd be able to wear them to anything else dressy you have to go to during the summer.
over
Get metallic silver ballet flats - they'll look absolutely crazy, possibly in a good way, and you can use them to dress up as an alien or fashion-follower in the future. (3 years ago)

Don't get wrist corsages, that's just dorky OR Just get some flowers for your hair OR Buy flowers to have in your room instead. over
Get wrist corsages (and flowers for your hair).
I'm going to get flowers for my room, so it'll be pretty, and maybe flowers for my hair (and also for my girlfriend's hair if she wants them).
I realized that I have an aversion to anything even possibly uncomfortable on my wrist, and I'm such a klutz that I'd probably manage to partially denude the corsage before the evening was out.

Take Pilates
over
Take Beginning Badminton (3 years ago)
I'm kind of dubious about the benefits of Pilates, but I'm even more dubious about swinging a racket around.
I picked
Stay with a free account (no ads)
over
Try the Plus account level (google ads, but I can make polls) (3 years ago)
Doxory can be embedded in LiveJournal posts now, which makes this an easier decision.
Also, I could never figure out how to use AdBlock Plus and it kept blocking things I wanted to see and completely screwed up embedded YouTube videos.

Make a big deal out of it on the day itself over
Keep doing what we've been doing
So, people's ideas for small things we could do in addition to keeping doing what we've been doing were in line with what I had in mind for making a big deal out of the anniversary. I wonder what this says about me?
izzycat: I don't think I could ever want to kill someone if they forgot our anniversary. I'd kill them if they forgot what it was like to kiss when we had first started doing so, but not over a date.
So, I'm saying that I decided to "Make a big deal out of it on the day itself", but I agree with the people who left comments on the "Keep doing what we've been doing" side of things.

Realized that I had misphrased the question.

Submit my recipe to them, since it's technically a hack of an Ikea product, even though everything else on there is furniture or textiles.

Not submit the recipe to them, since it's not furniture or textiles OR I don't want my name on the internet associated with instant dessert sauce mix. (3 years ago)

Buy light denim or
Buy dark denim
I bought the light denim jeans and am buying the dark denim jeans once they aren't back-ordered. Conclusion: If something seems unusually good to you, it will seem unusually good to other people. Buy it now, *before* it's back-ordered.

It's become really clear that it's a hardware problem. And yes, I will be backing it uo before sending it off to the tender mercies of AppleCare.

Get my mom to take me to the Shoe Barn to shop for boots that aren't Ugg-ripoffs (surprisingly hard to find this year).

Soldier on with the really lousy pair of boots I got a few years ago that has horrible footing or try to fix well enough the yucky pair of hiking boots I used as snow boots last winter. (3 years ago)
I ordered a gorgeous pair of Gore-Tex water-proof hiking boots. They just arrived...

I picked
go to the Victorian period dance, which I really want to go to, even though I don't have any clothing that's more than remotely that-period and would have to scramble to get an even mediocre outfit together in time
over
spend my Friday evening doing some combination of going to a panel or two, playing Looney Labs or Steve Jackson games, browsing dealers row, hanging out with friends, and volunteering with baby sitting or general con ops. (3 years ago)
I picked
eat tasty food in Northampton and buy a few staples from the food coop there that doesn't have the kind of bread I like and has a miniscule produce section and is kind of expensive, and then maybe go to Whole Foods (a whole-day endeavor when the buses are on the January Term schedule) on Saturday or Sunday.
over
buy enough stuff to make dinner at the food coop, which would be expensive, and come back and cook it in the kitchen. (3 years ago)
