Still up in the air

Take the buyout and move into another job at another company that pays similar wages and use the money to pay down/off debt leads over Stay the course, things will get brighter in a year or two. (2 years ago)

Set in stone

I picked Be empathetic (tough break, you'll get it next time). Do this because she is probably already beating herself about performing such a bonehead manuever. Punishment would just be wrong. (please note some helpful things I can say/relate to ease the pain) over Punish her for her failures, because life doesn't take prisoners and she needs to learn there are dire consequences for her actions that don't just end with her failing a class.(please note what sort of punishment options you'd recommend) (2 years ago)
I picked Do the work and put in the bathtub. You are going to do work anyways, so why not. It will increase the selling price of the house later. over Keep the existing shower, less work to just put in some new tile or shower wall kit. Finito! (2 years ago)
This will be part of a complete basement tearout. Since we decidede to tear out the entire basement adn redo all of it, we also decided (after consideration of all comments) to put in a bathtub to raise the number of full baths in the house, since we will be selling in the next two years. We will also be making the bathroom bigger when we rebuild too so that it will be worth the cost, not just trying to wedge one in somewhere in the existing bathroom.
I picked Keep on running! The old equipment has shown fortitude, keeps on ticking, even though it costs a half-buttload to run electricity-wise over Trash the old stuff! Migrate to a new storage server that has newer, untested drive traits that will suck up less juice but could potentially cause more headaches? (2 years ago)
Due to several consequent decisions, we are putting our money into fixing the basement and moving out of the house within two years. After we are moved into the new house, I will be purchasing a new storage server, so the old equipment goes with the house (so to speak). I will continue to run with the old stuff for the next few years, but will be keeping an eye on storage server technologies over the next 18-24 months.
I picked Wait a while longer and see if the housing bubble is going to burst. There are more repos every day. over Sell my 2002 truck, it's paid off and would fetch $12,000 - $15,000, then buy an older $3,000 work truck to replace it. (2 years ago)
After careful consideration of all responses and much work with MS Excel, we have come to the conclusion that we should wait. Financing will be harder to get later on due to major changes in the money markets but for now, I am rehabbing my basement which will be a test case for being able to flip a house on time, on budget. If my back holds out, things turn out well and it is completed to schedule and to budget, then I think that will show that I have the ability to pull things off. Money will follow.
I picked Completely gut the basement, make it a showplace to enjoy the next year or two (spend a couple grand to fix it nice) over Shovel out the wreckage and paint whatever doesn't move. It will sell soon, so why dump money into it? (2 years ago)
After careful review of all parties comments, it was tipped in favor of tearout due to finding mold near the bottom of the outside walls. Apparently there was a little water seepage during their time in the basement that didn't get taken care of. Tear out it is! Dumpster has been delivered!
I decided to do Something else rather than Buy them a place and have them pay me rent for it, just so they get out of the house. or Let them stay with me longer, but set a definite goal and date to move by. (2 years ago)
When we sat down and discussed this with the kids, they realized it was time to move out. So when their tax return came back, they took that money and moved out into their own place a few days ago. Problem solved. Thanks everyone!
I picked Do what my wife wants and keep it out of the rental fleet, so that it is our 'private' unit. over Do what I want and put it in the rental fleet to help defray ownership costs. (2 years ago)
A lot of questions, more so than answers. I will have to put more info when I post the next item. Hard to make decisions based on little info. While I would love to rent the second one, the bank has told us that their loans do not cover for rentals due to the fact that it depreciates the units faster. We have decided to try one more year and see if the first one will pay for itself completely plus part of the second unit. After that point, we will sell it if it doesn't. No point in supporting two when we only need one.
