Mapserver in and of itself isn't 100% of what I need, but the stuff it's built on top of looks like it can replace a lot of the home-grown infrastructure I have, with advantages that it understands things besides TIGER and someone else is maintaining it.

Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon looks vaguely shiny in a couple of ways, and it's hopefully far enough from Debian upstream that I won't have to do unpleasant things like deal with broken kernels and libraries....
