Set in stone

I need Word. I borrowed a legit copy of Office 2003 and installed it on the laptop, no problem. Went to install it on the desktop, and it's hit the maximum number of activations. The only more suckful than needing Word is trying to deal with Word docs in Open Office, so yeah. ...
I decided to do Something else rather than Decide that $130 is just not enough to care about, suck it up, and buy a new copy of Office or Call MS and bitch about how I bought a new machine and now I can't install this software, on the hopes that the phone minion will just unlock it (2 years ago)
Ah, failing activation basically means I leave it open when I open it and I should be set for a good long time. And maybe the installation timeout will have kicked in by then. Hate microsoft so much.
I am in an emotionally draining unpleasant situation. I can do A or B. What I actually want to do is C, which is why this is an unpleasant situation. When I ask people for advice on the specifics, I get their opinion of the unpleasant situation, instead of whether I should do A or B. The advice I would give a friend would be "do whatever you have to do." When I am tired, hungry, stressed, or sad, I prefer option A. When I am relaxed and happy, I prefer option B. Option A involves certain, immediate, intense, but possibly limited-term suckfulness; option B involves uncertain levels and duration of suckfulness, occasional bouts of awesomeness, and a lot of time wondering if maybe I should be choosing option A instead. ...

There is no way to do C because it depends on someone else's choices. Annoyingly. I'm going with B, at least for now.
The office is having its annual summer outing tomorrow. Free lunch, a raffle, and stuff like volleyball and such. Last year, I played twinkie games with the cool kids and it was ok. But I think I'm getting sick and it's going to be 90 degrees and I hate heat and also volleyball. It's annoyingly far away and I also have to run an important errand in the morning, so I'd be up way early....
I picked Skip it. Stay home and be sick (it's an official day off!) and maybe work on the stupid document of suck to assuage any guilt. over Go anyway. I rsvp'd, it's free food. Work bonding, although I don't think that'll matter for me. (3 years ago)

I'm trying out a new recipe for sesame peanut noodles. The internets has a variety of recipes; I'm going to try the one from nytimes. But I'm suspicious - it only calls for 2T of peanut butter, and other recipes call for, like, half a cup for the same amount of noodles....
I picked Assume that the recipe is good and the proportions are right, and maybe nytimes just wants less sauce overall for the noodles? over Assume that nytimes is smoking crack and prepare to aggressively modify the proportions in the sauce? (3 years ago)

I picked Have dinner and then punt the movie? I'd probably go home and fall asleep watching CSI or something, after doing some essential chores. over Go to the movie?
