I think some people may have misunderstood the question; apologies for not being clearer. The question I was asking was "does this photo better represent British food as a whole (that is, the things that Welsh, English, Scottish and Northern Irish food has in common), or English food (which is a subset of British food)". I went and asked a pile of known-British people instead, and they all said "English food", so I'm going with that. Will probably use a photo of stew to represent British food, since as far as I know all our regions have a traditional stew of some kind.
