Because 6 is awesome
Go 8B with a concentration in course 6. Then both 8 and 6 will be on your degree, you'll have no problems getting a job, *and* you can avoid Junior Lab or whatever nasty course 6 lab you don't want to do.
8 is the way of the force -- but 6 helps it be more forceful. There is nothing to fear in 8.14; it is a whole lot cooler than 8.13 and you learn a lot more. So I see no point of doing 8B unless you do want to a double major and even then, the fear of 8.14 shouldn't be why you do it.

8 majors tend to be bitterer, I find.
6 is probably better for getting you jobs; also, no junior lab if you take 6. On the other hand, if you're really interested in physics, then only take the Course 6 classes you want to and avoid the nasties.

Or do the "take a bunch of classes and see what major I end up as" approach.

If by "6" you mean you're leaning towards CS, both options suck.
