Doxory?

coolworld has decided I'm usually the last person in my group at work to leave the office, and one of the last to get in. This traditionally hasn't been a problem, but my group has seemingly become day-shifted recently. But I actually get more work done when fewer people are around to disrupt chains of concentration.

I'm keeping the same hours, (~11am - 7+pm) However, I will be reachable via email, cellphone, and (usually) work IM before I get in, to deal with the morning people in my group.

My choice: Keep the same hours.

unless you need to make some kind of impression.

Explain to your boss, and keep the same ones.

Concentration is important.

maybe split the difference a bit? make sure you've got enough overlap that people can get to you and enough alone time that you can get work done.

As long as you're being recognized for doing as much work, it should be fine; posting/emailing late at night is good. That said, if you can specify when you *will* be there it'll probably help all around... I've always liked the "core hours are noon-4pm" model, which covers 8-4 and noon-8 equally well, and still allows team lunches...

If you can manage it, keep the same hours. If not, try wearing over-the-ear headphones with some kind of music (usually without lyrics). I'm the same way (have ADHD), but my boss won't let me come in past 8:30.

unless your schedule interferes with meetings and the overall group's productivity, it sounds like you should keep your current hours.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
