Doxory?

laurel has decided an unopened gallon of whole milk went on a trip up to vermont and back, meaning ~8hrs in a warm car over the course of the weekend, but it is still unopened and has been rerigerated at all other times. is it still drinkable?

it doesn't smell, but it does taste vaguely weird, though i'm used to 1% so i'm not sure how much of that is just the fact that it's whole. but i'm not going to drink it, though i might use it for baking if i'm inspired/have time in the next couple days. thanks all.

There's one way to find out. Just drink a little (smell check it first, of course) and see if it's gone bad or not.

smell it first for the rest of its life

But I wouldn't drink milk anyway :)

Open it, pour a little bit out into a bowl, and smell it.

... if it was in the trunk, yes. Otherwise I'd be suspicious; milk products like cheese and yogurt are generally okay, but plain milk is more questionable.

but I am very sensitive to milk rancidness; taste it, you'll know if it's bad.

You might use it for baking scones or other cooking, but I would not drink it.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
