Doxory?

glasser has decided I'm really enjoying using a Kinesis keyboard at work (lab). I find it both more comfortable and more efficient. My wrists don't hurt yet, but they are sort of threatening to. Should I buy one for working at home on my laptop?

Heh. My point was more the "I barely work from my room", not the expensive part...

My choice: Yes, any chance of hurting my wrists should be avoided

don't wait til the damage is done. note that this is not a vote for the kinesis specifically so much as a vote for doing what feels more comfortable now to stave off badness later. also, also: the kinesis is spendy, but physical therapy, a multitude of braces, and having to buy a kinesis anyway later is spendier.

$300 and computer breaks are a very cheap price to pay for functioning wrists and hands -- how much is brushing your teeth pain-free worth to you?

laptop + kinesis is awkward since the laptop is pretty non-ergonomic in the first place. if you're going to get a kinesis, consider a real ergonomic workplace (proper chair, monitor at right height, &c)

I'm sure you could find one that's not too expensive on eBay or something.

and expense it?

it's not that expensive, and your wrists are totally worth it.

No, it's expensive and I barely ever work from home, and I'm not actually injured yet

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
