Doxory?

jesse has decided I'm in New Zealand for a conference. I've got a couple days on the North Island to kill after the conference. I'm really jonesing for some good hacking time. But this is my first time in NZ.

As it turned out, I got kidnapped by friends. So now I'm hanging out at their house...using doxory.

I picked something else

Spend the time actually trying to cram in scenic spots, touristy activities and wandering around in the gorgeous natural gorgeousness.

Why are you even asking this question? New Zealand is not for hacking. Unless you live there. Go Enjoy Yourself, dammit.
Ian
I hear there are sheep. You should go admire the sheep!
trs
Don't cram in stuff, but definitely see the sights.
erin
Can you not split the difference? Go somewhere, see some stuff, and then spend some time coding. You won't see it all, but at least you will have experienced something while still feeling productive.
susannah
I would see some subset of the sights such that they didn't feel "crammed", but it's pretty clear that you want to sit in the cafe from the wording. Solution: spend a day seeing gorgeous natural gorgeousness, and of the remaining time, half of it hacking and half minus 1 day of it doing touristy things besides seeing gorgeous natural gorgeousness.

Dude, get off the code addiction and explore!

Find a nice cafe, possibly on a beach somewhere, and spend two days pounding out code, sipping coffee and enjoying the long days.

jake
this is only a vote for hacking if you actually go out and find a beach to compute on. otherwise, see some of these painfully green hills. and buy your brother one of the many great books about contemporary glass in new zealand and australia.

Split the difference? Find a nice cafe near touristy things and spend the mornings touristing and the afternoons coding somewhere with a nice view.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
