kyoumeisha has decided Career fair, looking for a new tech job

Asked 4 years ago

My choice: "Business casual" whatever the hell that means. Given the contents of my closet, probably black slacks and either a fitted shirt or a sweater.

Tech job - business casual - black slacks and a button-down shirt. If you're not managerial/consulting, a suit might project the wrong message... most tech types don't usually wear them, so it's kind of strange to wear one at a fair. Interview, maybe, but not the fair.

save the suit for the interview, i'd say.

I think the industry and sector you want to work for matters. For military contractors, more formal, for startups and software, less formal.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
