Most hiking boots (unless designed for winter hiking) will make you unhappy if there are more than a few inches of snow on the ground, since they tend to be breathable. Get winter boots for winter, and then get new hiking boots for hiking when you can.
women's winter boots frequently fail to keep out the slush anyway.
You'll be glad you have them.
I finally bought the women's snazzy boots 3 years after the hiking boots, and I've never regretted it for a second.
