Doxory?

Yoyo has decided I preregistered for two course 18 seminars and got into both, but I only want to take one of them. Which?

I tested biking back from Harvard - it took longer than 10 minutes.

18.304 (discrete math, D. Kleitman) - in a section with only senior math majors. I lost the lottery when it was offered last spring. I'll probably need to dash to class from Harvard. "Seminar in combinatorics, graph theory, and discrete mathematics in general."

No useful thought. But, damn, Kleitman's amusing.

Kleitman is crazy, but I liked him.

My choice: 18.424 (information theory, P. Shor) - I won the lottery to get into it. I know fewer of the students who will be taking it. "Considers various topics in information theory, including data compression, Shannon's Theorems, and error-correcting codes."

Information theory is shiny, plus (speaking from a similar situation that will occur next term) dashing to class from Harvard sucks, especially if the T is late.
jtu
Dashing from Harvard will probably suck.

I took 18.310 w/Shor. He's brilliant, but can't teach low-level stuff for shit. the seminar might be better though!

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
