Especially after perusing it in a bookstore.

when's the next one?
I think I'd prefer to buy every other edition, rather than buy each new one as it comes out, unless the lag time between editions is sufficiently long (~>5 years for a fast-moving field, >10-20 years for a slow-moving field). If you don't have a copy of the old one, though, by all means get the new one.

Maybe not worth it -- if the topic evolves so quickly, then won't the new edition go out of date fast?
