Doxory?

susannah has decided I probably need winter boots. I've been saved so far by the unseasonable weather, but I'm probably going to spend most of March trudging to class through the slush. I don't want to end up wrecking my nice pairs of shoes by wearing them in the snow.

I ordered a gorgeous pair of Gore-Tex water-proof hiking boots. They just arrived...

Get my mom to take me to the Shoe Barn to shop for boots that aren't Ugg-ripoffs (surprisingly hard to find this year).

The Internet can also provide boots. I know people have said good things about zappo's (www.zappos.com)

I swear by Cabelas GoreTex-waterproofed hiking boots for my normal, everyday footwear in the winter, for exactly the reason that I ruined too many pairs of $40 tennis shoes by tromping through rain and sleet and snow in them -- http://www.cabelas.com

Any brilliant advice would certainly be appreciated. Shameless advocacy is often good, too.

Go to LL Bean (store or catalog) and get good boots from them.

I just got a pair of Keen boots and they are really keen!

Go to a hiking/camping store and buy a pair of insulated winter hiking books. My boots from Hilton's Tent City have lasted three winters and are still just as warm and dry as when I bought them.

EMS has nice boots. They last a decade or so.

Get new boots! I got boots half-off in January; they're probably even cheaper now.

Soldier on with the really lousy pair of boots I got a few years ago that has horrible footing or try to fix well enough the yucky pair of hiking boots I used as snow boots last winter.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
