Doxory?

photon: My mom needs a new computer to use for video editing. She's been using iMovie for years and occasionally pokes around with Final Cut Express. Each movie is several tens of gigabytes, so space becomes an issue pretty quickly. She's a die-hard Mac user.

Get a badass iMac and use external harddrives for extra storage. Pro: cheap. Con: not expandable.

iMac - if the thing breaks, you can disconnect and send off to Apple repair without fearing the loss of your precious video data!

Get a Mac Pro (quad core, probably refurbished) and an external monitor. Pro: expandable. Con: Expensive, would need an external monitor.
