I've always found it easier to do powerpoint when half-asleep.
allot a set time for Powerpoint (and schedule this time for right before your presentation). The reason? If you do powerpoint first, you'll get all obsessive-compulsive about it and realize that you spent 3 days making slides. Then you'll have only one day to work on the paper.
Any brilliant advice would certainly be appreciated. Shameless advocacy is often good, too.
totally get the easy things out of the way first. that way you won't be rushed at the last minute to get the PP done. If you do PP first then you can make sure it's exactly the way you want it and still have lots of time to do the paper. In my experience leaving the easy little things until the last minute makes me more stressed because I'm thinking about them while I"m trying to finish the larger projects.
