Doxory?

lakmiseiru has decided Now I've been invited to visit both UCSD and U Arizona. Meeting with a guy from UA on Monday for coffee (he's just moved and is back in town). The UA trip means one day less of weekend-working to make up vacation days. I like both UCSD and UA, but neither is on the top of my list. I have spent time in San Diego but not Tuscon. The plane tickets to UA will be at least another $200 above their reimbursement, unfortunately, while San Diego's are covered, but I can ask parents for funds. There's some word that the department at UCSD is imploding, but otoh I doubt my partner can find a job in Tuscon (and has been offered one in San Diego).

UCSD says that they might have another date or do phone interviews - not the most helpful nor the most polite of answers. I asked them to let me know when they decide which they're doing, and said "yes!" to UA.

Visit UCSD and ask to visit UA another time

Especially given that visiting another time means actually getting a shot at reasonably priced plane tickets.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
