Doxory?

lakmiseiru has decided Holiday party at work is the same day as one of my favorite professors is reading from his book at MITSFS; I haven't seen him in a year. They overlap impossibly (one can't go to both, quite simply).

Everyone in my lab is laughing about "oh, and are you going to bring so-and-so to the party" with the undercurrent of "s/bring/inflict/;" so I think I'm okay. There seems to be universal hatred for Division-organized parties.

Holiday party at work, possibly dragging R along

Holidays are more fun than a professor's favorite book.

My choice: Joe's reading instead, maybe dinner after

Unless skipping will cost you enough office politics capital it'll be annoying for the next year.

Depends on how much not attending the holiday party is frowned upon

tough call. I'd generally say go to the work one. Wok socializing is important. But, it's not a long term job. But, you may work with these people again in different places...

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
