Doxory?

melike has decided Write down all my secrets in a locked (paper) diary? (I don't trust computers. I've lost a lot of files over the years.) Another note: I don't like burning/destroying things I've written...

I just read my older diary entries and I really appreciate myself for writing down things that I knew I might forget.

My choice: Yes. You need to get them out of your system and remember them in the future! Some noteworthy memories are so fleeting...

What's embarrassing now won't be in 40 years. Who cares about grandkids.

If you decide you don't want it found, burning the diary is pretty satisfying too.

I can assure you that you will not care if archaeologists read it 1000 years later.

But don't bother with the lock.

This seems to be what is right for you Now. You have some concerns about it, but you can resolve those Later, as time passes and you change.

No. Someday, somebody will open it and read it. What would your grandchildren think?? (I guess I could request in my will that the notebook be buried with me in my grave and trust that people will respect that.) What if archeologists find it 1000 years later? Aaahhh!

Work things out in your brain so you don't have to write them down.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
