Doxory?

lakmiseiru has decided GRE studying. Taking the subject test (Biochem&c) in a month, general test in 1.5 months. How should I study?

Getting a book for the subject test - will take its first test, study, then take its second once I know what I need help on. Will use the GRE-provided software (just arrived Friday) to take practice general tests.

Review basic concepts from classwork, check out textbooks, a little at a time - more general-focused review

My choice: Get a practice book (Kaplan, etc - recommend?) and work with that as the foundation - more test-focused review

Do a lot of tests and if you find something that you dont know, do a focused review on those subjects. This means more selective reviewing...

sadly, you're trying to do well on the test, not show that you know things.

The general test really isn't studiable, so you probably just want to do a practice test or two just to get yourself used to the format. (But I shouldn't be trusted; I'd probably say the SAT isn't studiable but about a zillion people would beg to differ.) As for the subject test, I took the math subject test and used a review book which was specific to that test; that's probably the way to go, because there are some things that are emphasized in a standard text but which just aren't examinable in the multiple-choice format.

then determine where you're weak and hit the books.

Don't worry about the general test. It's not going to be as important as the Biochem one for your studying. I'm a fan of the Princeton Review book for the General for strategies. Good luck!

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
