I'm getting a toaster now, because I really like the way it pops up, and if in the fall we find ourselves wanting to make lots of grilled cheese, bagel pizzas (oh man, I had almost completely forgotten about those, and remembered them while staring at a toaster oven at the store), and so forth, we'll get a toaster oven as well.

Toasters are tremendously more efficient at toasting, but toaster ovens are more efficient than an oven for baking the kinds of things that will fit inside. Toaster ovens are a little more annoying to clean, too, especially if someone tries to cook something greasy and it drips (whereas you wouldn't even think of it with a toaster.) Really, depends on what you want to eat.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
