Try Firefox 3 alpha -- it's supposed to be faster on Mac, and you're a software developer -- you're okay with living on the bleeding edge, right?

I bet it even leaks more memory!

Try Firefox 3 alpha, but keep a copy of Firefox 2 in case you need to downgrade. And copy your dotfiles.

I would... only *if* I had the time..

If it doesn't work, you can always fall back to lynx for the *useful* stuff out there.

My choice: Stick with Firefox 2 for now. The bleeding edge isn't worth the pain.

Being a software developer doesn't mean you have to cut yourself with every new beta you find.

It's an excuse not to work. Which ... well... is an argument one way or the other.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
