ntn has decided Work will supply me with a laptop for mad coding fun, but I'm not sure which to pick.

transistorman: istr that you won't have another desktop/laptop at home... just the colo server. go for the bigger shiny.
coolworld: If you're going to be doing a fair bit of your work locally, more powerful is better.

gugod: I chose Macbook Pro for better typing experience ( I was using powerbook before ), not because of the display. An nice looking, 1024x768x72dpi screen is enough for coding for me.

madcaptenor: It really depends on whether you're the sort of person who carries your computer around a lot. Personally, given this choice I'd go for the MacBook Pro, but I basically never take my computer anywhere.
perturbed: I am having the same exact dilemna right now. I carry my laptop with me everywhere but I think it is still worth having the bigger screen and therefore less strain on the eyes.
glasser: What are you using it for? At home or at work, or commuting? MacBooks get somewhat better wireless, and so are nice if you're taking it all over the place; if it'll spend most of its time on your desk at home or work, MacBook Pro seems great (since it's not your wallet).
Mycroft: I'm unclear on why it has to be a Mac.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
