melonylouise has decided I'm contemplating sending a message in a bottle when I go to the river tomorrow...

Well, plans changed, and we ended up not going to the river at all. Oh well, another day definitely... And I nay the folks who tried to kill the "romantic" (in artistic, not sexual, terms) feelings I associate with a message in a bottle by associating it with the empty beer cans and various other articles of trash people just leave behind due to sheer laziness.

You can send another one when you get to the ocean

send another if you get to the ocean. Besides, ocean currents usually bring it right back, the river is probably more interesting.

I did that when I was a kid, and it was so anticlimactic. My bottle with the carefully prepared message just mixed in with all the trash that was floating around. :(

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
