Doxory?

tibbetts: My wife and I are probably going to have to get a second car, depending on her job situation. We currently have a 4-door Honda Civic, which is a wonderful car, but pretty boring.

Get something small and sporty (but still fiscally responsible) like a used Miata. Don't worry about looking like you are having a mid-life crisis.

The Civic should be fine for at least the first few years of kids, right?

I *loved* the del Sol. Reliable, cheap, and a convertible!

You sould buy what you really need.

Anything but the Miata. It looks like Minny Mouse's slipper.

I'm a Miata owner, and I love mine. However, if you're over 6', you almost certainly will not fit in one.

How much do you care about having a "boring" car? Is this a get-me-to-work kind of car, or a pleasure thing? Evaluate goals, then decide. But if you already have one practical car, looking at something cute might be fun. Compare costs (especially maintenance, which is often more on a sports-type car) before deciding.

You are not old enough to pull off a midlife crisis. What you are doing now is establishing the baseline lifestyle that will be tested against later to determine your midlife crisis status. Anyway, if it were me, I'd try to get as much as I could into the time before the kids show up.

Buy another small to midsized car, maybe a "sport wagon", that we wouldn't have to replace when we have kids.

You're both considering motorcycles anyway, right?

ew, cars.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
