Doxory?

lakmiseiru has decided Moving into the new place in a week. We'll have 2 bedrooms between R and I - each with one bed, so we can sleep together or separately (i.e. if one of us is sick or has to get up super-early or something). We'll sleep primarily in one room and use the other for being more social, I think.

Definitely work on making the sleeping-bedroom more relaxed - darker lighting, bigger bed, etc. Other room for socializing, meaning books, most of the stuff, etc. Just sitting in the kitchen is damn peaceful, but having a quiet sleeping place is good.

Make one of the two rooms into a quasi-Zen garden - someplace peaceful where people can retreat for some peace and quiet

It might be kind of weird -- I wouldn't do it. But you're the one who will be living there, and the fact that you thought of the idea seems to point towards you liking it.

Having a "social bedroom" and a bedroom that you *only* use for sleeping could be clever -- that's already the system you've effectively got, so making it official and designing the bedrooms around that idea seems clever.

It's easier to make a space cluttered than to neaten and simplify it.

With bonsais and tatamis and paper doors :)

My choice: Not bother - the house will be peaceful enough, there's a huge park next door, and it might be kind of weird. Plus, is there enough space?

For your concern, keeping one room capable of sleeping (with a nice couch maybe) isn't that hard.

I find it's worth having a space that's your own, apart from your SO. I'm not sure what this means towards your choices.

Or an office/guest room of sorts?

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
