Doxory?

sintil8 has decided I ultimately want to be a teacher and the advice I have gotten is get as much experience in a classroom BEFORE you start a teaching program. I also want to get involved with the 2008 MoveOn.org campaign because I have worked with them before and I think this campaign is really exciting.

i am going to start tutoring for a non-profit (it looks like i got a position) for the summer and start looking into working with MoveOn later. this is an important year for campaigning, especially for Education, but I want to start getting experience as soon as possible, too. I'm OLD, but i am not going to rush into the "System" without some idea of what it is going to be like. I think doing both with help.

I picked something else

Start pursuing my career goals by substitute teaching, tutoring, etc so I feel comfortable applying to teaching programs for Fall 2008

I would start teaching now and see if you can do simple stuff with MoveOn.org in your "spare" time.
kyrandil
how old are you? i appreciate moveon's goals, but don't set yourself up too far behind.
erin
But still work with MoveOn when you have time.

take a position as an "activist"/recruiter/etc with MoveOn.org and push off my career goals another year

It may be an interesting experience, and teaching is a career you can enter later on.

Isn't 2008 a better year to be an activist though?

Can you not do a bit of both?

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
