susannah has decided I'm trying to buy a bathing suit for this summer. I definitely want a tankini top plus board shorts (or something similar).

Although I'm going to call the company that makes them to see whether the soft cups are removable, in which case I'll get the soft cup top.

but for those of us not intimately familiar with the kind of engineering that goes into bras, and what's appropriate for what amount of cleavage, it's hard to make a knowledgable decision.

My choice: Buy the top that doesn't have any okay colors (besides black) but does have a shelf bra.

If you need the shelf bra, going without it for style reasons will probably make you sad. Otherwise, go for style.
