Doxory?

lakmiseiru has decided Update to the last question concerning the job. I received an email today telling me that she was able to meet me halfway (and offered an additional $1500 to the salary). This email was much more reasoned and polite. I spoke with a former employee who said that she enjoyed working for this manager and had a good experience.

Replied - spoke with HR about the benefits, which are good, and said I'll commit 100% once I receive the formal offer letter. It's only a year, and having a stable job is a win.

My choice: Take the job. She's met you halfway, offered a 5% increase in salary, and seems to have calmed down. Other people think she's okay.

Don't reply to her today though. Also, are you going to be able to work with a manager who acts first, thinks later, and then does the right thing?

Still, meet in person before deciding for sure.

If you really like the job.

I agree with ntn.

Decline it. It's better money, but the initial response to the negotiation was still really negative, and another friend who interviewed with her had a bad experience.

I would suggest meeting with her and getting some idea of her management style. Working in a lab with a manager that is either overbearing or nonexistent is hard (if not impossible). Granted that implies that you have some awareness of your needs. I would quiz the people that worked for her about their experiences combine it with your experience talking with her and make up your own mind. I'd give her a chance, but know the experience will be right before committing.

See if you can get any more feedback on working for her?

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
