I made a few short trips with it gently putting about 300 miles on it. Tomorrow, I am taking it up to the highest mountain pass around here. :) No speeding until it hits a 1000 miles is what I have been advised to let the engine "settle in." After that, I might do a speed test, once. (No, I dont like speeding. I just like the wind. )

Better scenery.
better for a convertible
so much more to see!
Mountain roads, and more importantly mountain *air* is much better with the top down than "everyone else's exhaust" which is what you get on highways. (Speaking as a Mini Convertible driver who likes mountains :-)
and pretty scenery :-)
Mountain air with the top off? Awesome.
Mountain roads have lots of curves. Taking curves at speed is far more fun than taking highway straights at speed. That, and the mountain roads will teach you a lot more about what the car is capable of.

Check its safety features and performance on the highway *before* stress-testing the engine and brakes in the mountains.
Highway driving is safer than mountain driving.
Watch out for cops and don't be a jackass on the road. Otherwise, have fun.
