Doxory?

lakmiseiru has decided I applied for three jobs last week. One scheduled an interview but just hired someone else instead, one hasn't gotten back to me, and one is reading my references and has invited me for an interview. I'd like to start working in August.

The interview went well and I was able to negotiate a higher salary despite lacking other offers. I'll be starting work in August with the lab who interviewed me.

Start looking elsewhere now - can't hurt to have more choices

I learned this the hard way once -- it's way less stress to drop other people than to have other people drop you

Offers in parallel give you options, and are always good.

Having only one offer leaves you little room to negotiatie.

Parallelize.

My choice: See whether the current opening pans out - it sounds fun and I still have three months to find a job if this falls through

Both?

Look elsewhere now if it won't add more stress. Otherwise, wait. (Though things might be tricky if you're travelling during your three months off.)

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
