My choice: hold out for a place to live that covers the full 3 months

Moving multiple times sucks. Hold out for a place to live, ask if the company you're interning with has any suggestions.

unless you're good at living with very little stuff.

Do you really want to be moving? Depending, though, on when you move in, I can probably help you get settled (with the four-wheeled internal combustion vehicle).

try to patch together a couple shorter-term places

1 is better, but it may not be worth holding out for. Especially if you've got good short term ones.

Short-term isn't as bad as you might think, if you travel light, and you can meet some interesting people. But having a home is still preferable.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
