Doxory?

jtu has decided I can get a scanner for ~$50. For ~$90, I could get a film+paper scanner, or a scanner/printer combo. Which should I get?

$50 plain ol' scanner - not much film to scan, and unlikely to find a crappy home photo printer useful

home photo printers tend to be (in aggregate) more expensive than going somewhere for prints unless you do it All The Time. Film scanners (on 35mm negatives) tend to be tricky for getting prints out of since a 35mm negative is roughly 1" by .75" or so.

Assuming you already have a normal printer or there's one somewhere in the house.

I tend to find multi function devices fragile and sucky. Though I wonder how the film+paper would be

lakmiseiru, trs, ntn, peggusus, jesse, photon, nelhage, erin, Ian

My choice: $90 - comment on which of film+paper or scanner+printer I should get

Scanner printer. Printing is useful, even if it's crappy.

It's useful to have a printer at home. And a combo machine saves space on your desk.

I've been happy with my hp photosmart (which I got for free with computer, so I didn't consider it very hard).

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
