"A Scholar of Magics," Caroline Stevermer (I loved the first book)

But only because I'm currently really into Regency-Edwardian AUs with fantasy elements (have you read any of the Temeraire books yet?). There's another book that you might like, but it's at home and I can't remember the title!

I read it and loved it (just like the first one). This is about Jane, but I have always felt Jane is awesome.

Reading sequels always makes me nervous, but I always do it. :p

jtu, seph, kilroi, nelhage, buddywiser36, aletta, ternus, tibbetts, Lattyware, ghstomahawks

"Privilege of the Sword," Ellen Kushner (or one of the earlier ones, but I have more of a weakness for feminism and women with swords than nutty gay fencers)

I enjoyed the first Stevermer book okay, but not enough to pick up any of the sequels. I haven't read "Privilege of the Sword", but it looks good. (obPseudoAmazon: If you like these, you might also enjoy Elizabeth Moon's Paksennarion books, which my friends have been reading and enjoying, and which are somewhere in my own queue. :-)

If you haven't read it already, Lois McMaster Bujold "Paladin of Souls"

Something by Terry Goodkind. Start with "Wizard's First Rule"

I recommend Terry Pratchett. Not so romantical, but a great, witty read. Try 'Small Gods' or maybe even 'Good Omens' which he co-wrote with another author, Niel Gaiman. Whatever you decide, happy reading!

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
