Doxory?

kyrandil has decided I dual-head, and my (matched, greyscale, fixed frequency) monitors are beginning to get dark.

Replace one at a time, with 1440x900 LCDs with high contrast ratios, but take a chance of not being able to get a matched set

Avoid eyestrain--and chances are you can get the monitors close enough.

I feel like matching is over-rated.

matched sets are getting very hard to find. especially with LCDs. and unless you're a high level graphics designer/digital photographer, you likely won't need them ...

Life's just too short.

My choice: Wait until these get unusably dim and then buy a matched pair (of higher resolution). It's not like I use them for much beyond text anyway.

Matched set is better. You use them little enough as is, and yes, only for text. Better to get a good deal on a set of matched ones than get piecemeal.

It sounds like you enjoy having a matched set.

If you make a stupid choice because a website tells you to, it's your own damn fault.
